Have faith and cross over.
Exodus 14:13-16, 21-22 NIV
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
IMAGINE.
The sea parts. Moses with his staff in hand motions, “Come.” IM
AGINE.
God’s people were called to step out in faith, to walk upon dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left, for the sea had been miraculously transformed by the power of God. A declaration Of God’s greatness undoubtedly resounded within the sea walls, as the wonderment of His artistry bellowed from the deep. Surely, the sea air was raw, intense, invigorating, and the atmosphere alive with great energy, amongst the silence of the people. A people filled with awe. Overwhelmed with wonder, they moved forward, deeper and deeper, through the channel that once was a waterway. Each step declared the awesomeness of Almighty God. Most assuredly, a holy mist of God’s presence hovered over the people, filling the air with a sea spray of the miraculous.
Stupendously, the vast display of the Almighty and His Supernatural power, beckoned the trust of those that followed. The crossing of the sea, was a time to follow the leader like never before known. Astoundingly, God made a path to salvation. Though evil pursued; and seemingly, there was no way out, God made a way, and brought the people to freedom.
The impossible became possible with God!
There is so much to imagine at the shore of the Red Sea. In this prophetic picture, God brings forth deliverance to His people. To illustrate, I submit: the raised staff in the outstretched arm of Moses is symbolic of the out stretched arm of Christ upon the cross, which was raised for the redemption of the people.
“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’” (Exodus 6:6-8 NIV)
The sea, representative of the baptism of the people, is mentioned in the book of Corinthians. For I do not want you to be unaware, believers, that our fathers were all under the cloud [in which God’s presence went before them] and they all passed [miraculously and safely] through the [Red] Sea; And all [of them] were baptized into Moses [into his safekeeping as their leader] in the cloud and in the sea.
(1Corinthians 10:1-4 AMP)
By faith, the people of God crossed over, but the enemy was consumed by the sea.
[Urged on] by faith the people crossed the Red Sea as [though] on dry land, but when the Egyptians tried to do the same thing they were swallowed up [by the sea].
(Hebrews 11:29 AMPC)
Even the name Moses is relevant. For Pharaoh’s daughter named him Moses, saying,
“I drew him out of the water. (Exodus 2:10 NIV) A babe, delivered, drawn out of the water, destined to deliver God’s people from the sea.
In Exodus 14:14, Moses encourages the people to stand firm for they would see the deliverance of the Lord…the Lord will fight for you…just be still. God responds by saying, “Why are you calling out to me?” “Tell the Israelites to move on.”
Move on? What! What about the sea?
It was AFTER God instructs the people to move on, that God instructed Moses to raise the staff to divide the water. The parting of the sea came AFTER the words of the Lord to “Move on.” You see, the sea wasn’t a problem for God.
God emanates faith, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) In faith, Moses raised his staff with an outstretched arm. He parted the sea, and the people crossed over on dry ground - the evidence of faith.
What difficulty lies before you? No sea is too great for our God?
Have faith, for faith makes a way for the miraculous.
Through faith, in Christ, may you “Move on.”
Prayer
Lord Almighty,
I pray for the courage to move on. My eyes have been focused on the sea that lies before me. As the pursuit of the enemy encroaches from behind, I feel entrapped by the circumstances that surround me. I call out to You, my God, and ask that You would be my deliverer in this situation. I repent of my unbelief, and trust You to make a way.
I cross over upon the ground faith provides, and “Move on.” I choose to believe again, that the Lord will make a way by parting of the sea of my situation.
I decree over the waters of my life, "The impossible is possible with God!"
May Your Holy Presence fall upon me now, as I cross over victoriously - in Christ - through faith - refreshed, imagining…a sea spray of the miraculous upon me.
Amen
