My brothers and sisters, you will have many kinds of trouble. But this gives you a reason to be very happy. You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient in suffering. If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be. James 1:2-4 ER
Why are we tested?
A student sits in class, day after day, taking in what the teacher puts before him. Inevitably, a test is given. Why? It is a measure of what the student has learned - ingested. Multiple choice, or in essay form, each test determines what lies within the pupil, revealing the course of the Teacher.
Reflect on the moments of testing.
What springs forth when you are tested?
All head knowledge? Or an overflow of the Father’s heart?
What do your multiple choices say about you?
Does your essay glorify God, or focus on the trials that you are facing?
Is the test a reflection of the Teacher?
Why are we tested?
Yes, to learn patience, endurance, producing maturity; however, a true student will use the opportunity to bring glory to the Teacher.
Prayer
Lord,
May this trial I face not be in vain.
May You, the Divine Teacher, be glorified through this season of testing within my life.
Help me, Holy Spirit, to learn the lesson before me, relying upon the goodness of the Teacher. May all that I have learned at His feet - spill out for His glory.
Amen
Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 AMP
In all humility...
A man’s pride and sense of self-importance will bring him down, But he who has a humble spirit will obtain honor. Proverbs 29:23 AMP
...for the Father's glory.
Test me.
