Look! The evidence of prayer is quite evident!
And Hannah Prayed.
A prophet was born.
And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.” 1 Samuel 1:20 ESV
(1Samuel Chapter 1 & 2)
Peter prayed.
The lame walked.
And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. Acts 3:8 ESV
Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Acts 3:1-10 ESV
Elisha prayed.
Fire fell from heaven.
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.1 Kings 18:38 ESV
(1 Kings 18:20-40)
Saul prayed. Ananias responded in prayer.
The scales fell away.
Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened. Acts 9: 10-19 ESV
Moses prayed.
Serpents scattered.
Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” Numbers 21:6-8 ESV
Nehemiah prayed.
The wall was restored.
“ As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:4 ESV
(Nehemiah 1-4)
Mary prayed.
“Be unto me.”
The Savior of the world was born.
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38 ESV
(Luke 1:26-38 ESV)
Jesus prayed.
Signs followed.
Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. John 6:2 NKJV
I have seen the evidence of prayer. Have you?
Recently, the morning prayer group with whom I am affiliated, established to pray for our nation and the public representatives, hosted a guest speaker - a noted public defender of Christian principles. When listening to this advocate for religious freedom, the evidence of prayer became quite evident. For, the words of this representative, resounded our supplication. His testimony encapsulated the divine hope of our intercession. In that moment, the Lord allowed me to see the hands and feet of answered prayer. Prayers prayed, now walking upon the face of the earth, proclaiming the truth, bearing a moral compass.
Truly, the evidence of prayer availeth much! Prophets are born. The lame walk. Serpents scatter. The fire of heaven falls. Scales fall away. Walls are restored. The Savior of the world birthed. Signs followed.
Know, your prayers released in the spirit; most assuredly, will manifest upon the earth.
Believe! Greater things are to come.
__________ prayed. (Put your name in the blank.)
Greater things happened.
“Amen, Amen, I tell you: The one who believes in me will do the works that I am doing. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”
John 14:12 EHV
Prayer
Lord,
I ask that You would teach me to pray.
I am willing.
May the evidence of prayer be evident in my life.
To God be the glory!
Amen
