But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 10:17 NIV
What does your heart shout?
“Me! Me! Me!” Or “Him! Him! Him!"
All talent, every gift, is from the Lord above; yet, so often we credit ourselves for our accomplishments. Yes, surgeons perform miracles. Artists can form a beautiful image out of clay, and sculpt stone into a masterpiece. Engineers build tunnels under water, and erect massive sky scrapers that loom within the clouds. Even within the church, our gifts are from God. Let us remember, such talent is initiated by the Creator Himself.
At times, have we forgotten? We have been created for the glory of God.
May our heart cry no longer be, “Me! Me! Me!”
Instead, may we choose to boast in Him! Him! Him!
To God be the glory!
Prayer
Father,
I repent for all the times I have boasted about me and my accomplishments, and not given You the glory and honor You so deserve. Please, forgive me. I lay all of my
self-exaltation at Your feet placing it under the blood of Jesus.
I surrender my megaphone of me.
From this moment on, I choose to boast in You alone.
For, You are worthy of all my praise.
May my life shout, “To God be the glory!” acclaiming the goodness of Him! Him! Him!
Amen
However, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not he who commends and praises himself who is approved [by God], but it is the one whom the Lord commends and praises.
(Amplified Version)
For:
The one who boasts must boast in the Lord.
So let’s be clear. To have the Lord’s approval and commendation is of greater value than bragging about oneself.
(The Passion Translation)
“Whoever boasts should boast only about the Lord.” What people say about themselves means nothing. What counts is whether the Lord says they have done well.
(English Standard Version)
2 Corinthians 10: 17-18
Yes! To God be the glory!
